Max Baby is a Paris-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer whose approach to music has always been instinctive and entirely self-taught. Raised near Bourges, far from any identifiable scene, he built his first drum kit at six from his mother’s biscuit tins before teaching himself piano, guitar and recording. Born with a particular form of synesthesia and perfect pitch, he developed a physical relationship with sound, guided less by theory than by sensation, colour and the emotional force of a song.
He now works from Greasy Studios, formerly home to legendary French band Magma. It is there that he created his two solo EPs, OUT OF CONTROL, INTO THE WALL and BREAK, moving between alternative rock, postmodern indie, oblique pop and electronics. Released under his real name, both were written, performed, recorded and produced entirely by himself.
